Education
Koreans were no longer speak Korean or write in the korean language, Hangul. They were only allowed to speak Japanese and to learn to write in Kanji, Katakan and Hiragana which was the language of Japan. Koreans were forced to give up their Korean names and to take Japanese name. The national tree of Korea, the Rose of Sharon was ordered to be uprooted and burned and replaced with the Japanese national tree, the Cherry Tree.
For Japan's colonial rule of financing, the land survey projects have been implemented since 1912 in order to facilitate the exploitation of the Japanese land, Usance Report Section performed, and the farmers did not know the what was going on, and their lands exploited. Unclear ownership of the village or clan land, the land of the government and the royal family also handed over to the Oriental cheoksik Corporation.
The colonization of Korea by Japan had a major impact on the direction and development of Korea. The effects of it can be felt today as Koreans take to the streets to protest the lack, or perceived lack, of an effectual apology from Japan and for the cavalier way this period is portrayed in their history books.
Modernization
First, there were economic changes. For one, Korea now exported to Japan. The main trade was rice to Japan in return for manufactured goods. Another change was the land registration policy. Japan invested a lot of time and money to survey Korea and map out who owns what. The basis of ownership was as follows: Korean royal land was transformed or given to the Oriental Development Company, naturally owned by Japan. Korean nobles kept their land as long as they exported the produce to Japan.
